“My plan was originally to work with electronics but when I started to do my software related thesis for Nokia that changed. After my thesis I stayed there for fifteen years and altogether I have been working at software industry for twenty years.
I started as Developer at Profit Software in June 2015. Lately I’ve worked with cloud service issues and devops. I like this very much since I have a chance to develop myself and for a change I work alone, not in a project. Don’t get me wrong, both methods suit me fine but it’s good to have some variation. Now, when I work mostly alone I have a chance to split my day how I like.
I remember when at some point Nokia offered different career paths. I saw myself as a specialist then and I still do. This industry changes all the time and it gives a chance to learn new things. Or I would say that it forces us to implement new methods, how to do stuff faster and more efficiently.
Some time ago I started to study again and my goal is to have Master’s degree in Engineering. Studies beside work is a good solution and lessons are mainly during weekends.
For those who are wondering what to study I would say that focus on a subject that genuinely interests you. At some point in your work life you’ll probably have a chance to work with things that you’ll find important.”
